With the help of larger crochet hook make 50 chain stitches. You can even make up to 60 stitches if you want.

Once you are done with making the chain measure the final length of the chain which should be 38.5 cm.

Now make a half double crochet in the third chain stitch of the base. Crochet HDC throughout the entire chain.

Make half double crochet on the other side of the chain as well.

Make a slip stitch at the end of the base chain.

You will get 2 rows of half double crochet on each side of the base chain. Now make another chain in between these two rows of half double crochet.

Use the piece of yarn that were left from the 2 rows of half double crochet. Now put that yarn on the middle of 2 rows of hdc, you will have 2 strings over the hook. Pass them through the 2 strings.

Follow this pattern throughout the base.

By following the same pattern, make another 4 crochet strips like this.

Time to join all these pieces together.

With the help of stitch marker, join all the pieces together. Make 1 hdc on the side of these 4 strips.

Now start braiding all the four crochet strips together. Put one strip over the other and make sure it’s firm. Likewise, put the 3rd one over the 4th.
