Materials
To create this crochet spiral motif, you will need a crochet hook of 3.5 mm, and Dk weight yarn and beads.
Abbreviations:
- Chain(s) = Ch
- Single crochet = sc
- Double crochet = Dc
- Half double crochet = Hdc
- Back post single crochet = Bpsc
- Back post half double crochet = Bphdc
- Back post double crochet = Bpdc
- Back post extended double crochet = Bpedc
- Back Loop Only = BLO
- Slip stitch = sl st
- Stitch = st
- Extended double crochet = Edc
Special stitch instruction:
Extended double crochet: yarn over, insert hook in the desired st, yarn over, pull through first loop only, yarn over, pull through 2 loops, yarn over, pull through 2 loops.
Pattern of Crochet Spiral Motif
- Slip knot, chain 7, slip stitch to the first chain to make a ring.
- Chain 3 (doesn’t count as first dc), 22dc into the ring, sl st to 1st dc in the round.
- Ch1, working in BLO, 2sc in the same st, 2sc in the next st, 2hdc in the next 2st, 2dc in the next 2st, 2edc in the next 3st, ch1, turn.
- Sc in the same st, sc in the next st, sc across the row, sc in the next st in the first round, ch1, turn.
- Now we will work around row2, 2bpsc in the first sc from row2, 2bphdc in the next sc from row2, bphdc in the next st, bpdc in the next 2st, 2bpdc in the next st, bpedc in the next 2st, 2bpedc in the next st, bpedc in the next 5st, ch1, turn.
- Sc in the same st, sc in the next st, sc across the row, sc in the next st in first round, ch1, turn.
- Now we will work around row4, 2bpsc in the first sc from row4, 2bphdc in the next sc from row4, bphdc in the next st, bpdc in the next 2st, 2bpdc in the next st, bpedc in the next 2st, 2bpedc in the next st, bpedc in the next 5st, ch1, turn.
- Sc in the same st, sc in the next st, sc across the row, sc in the next st in first round, ch1, turn.
- Now we will work around row6, 2bpsc in the first sc from row6, 2bphdc in the next sc from row6, bphdc in the next st, bpdc in the next 2st, 2bpdc in the next st, bpedc in the next 2st, 2bpedc in the next st, bpedc in the next 5st, ch1, turn.
- Sc in the same st, sc in the next st, sc across the row, sc in the next st in first round, ch1, turn.
- Now we will work around row8, 2bpsc in the first sc from row8, 2bphdc in the next sc from row8, bphdc in the next st, bpdc in the next 2st, 2bpdc in the next st, bpedc in the next 2st, 2bpedc in the next st, bpedc in the next 5st, ch1, turn.
- Sc in the same st, sc in the next st, sc across the row, sc in the next st in first round, ch1, turn.
- Now we will work around row10, 2bpsc in the first sc from row10, 2bphdc in the next sc from row10, bphdc in the next st, bpdc in the next 2st, 2bpdc in the next st, bpedc in the next 2st, 2bpedc in the next st, bpedc in the next 5st, ch1, turn.
- Add bead to the center of the motif.
Fasten off, weave in all ends.
