Pattern of Elastic Knitting Stitch
To make this elastic knitting stitch, there is a particular way to knit to assure the best result. You also need the right yarn and that is baby cotton yarn. The basic pattern is 4 loops, 2 rows:
Rotary knitting: the number of loops is a multiple of 4 + 1 fr for symmetry and + 2 edge loops.
1st row: skip the edge loop, (2 front, 1 purl, 1 front) repeat until the end of the row, at the end of 1 front, skip the edge loop.
2nd row: skip the edge loop, 1 purl at the beginning, then (3 front, 1 purl) repeat to end of row, skip the edge loop.
Alternate 1st and 2nd row.
Next
Circular knitting: the number of loops is a multiple of 4 + 1 loop to close the circle.
1st row: (3 front, 1 purl) repeat until the end of the row.
2nd row: (1 purl, 1 front, 2 purl) repeat to end of row.
Alternate 1st and 2nd row till the end of the elastic knitting stitch.
