THE TUNISIAN CROCHET STITCH
Tunisian crochet is a unique subset of crochet that combines crochet techniques coupled with some knitting techniques. Just need to make a repeat of steps to finish this pattern. This Tunisian crochet stitch is super easy to follow. It can be used in several projects like Afghans, pillows, and scarves.

To create this tunisian crochet stitch, you will need a crochet hook of 3 mm and DK weight yarn.

Pattern of Tunisian Crochet Stitch
– Make a slip knot, start with 17 chains.
– Insert hook into the 1st chain, pull up a loop and keep on hook, insert hook in the next chain, pull up a loop and keep on hook, continue this way across until the end; keeping all loops on the hook. [here you have 17 loops on your hook]
– Yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, continue this way across until the end. [here you have 1 loop on your hook]
– Insert hook in the next 2 vertical loops, pull up a loop and keep on hook, yarn over hook, repeat across until reach the last 2 loops, insert hook in the next one, pull up a loop and keep on hook, insert hook in the last one, pull up a loop, keep on your hook [here you have 17 loops on your hook]
– Repeat step 3.
– Insert hook in the first vertical loop, pull up a loop and keep on hook, yarn over hook, insert hook in the next 2 vertical loops, pull up a loop, keep on hook, yarn over hook, repeat across until reach the last loop, insert hook in the last one, pull up a loop, keep on your hook [here you have 17 loops on your hook]
– Repeat step 3.
– Repeat from step 4 to 7 until reach the desired length.

I have a Tunisian Crochet Hook but it didn’t come with an extension type of cord. Hopefully I can purchase the Hook and extension from Amazon. My question is I am going to be making blankets and or scarves using a Number 4 yarn, what size Hook would you recommend. Any information is appreciated. **

I just took a Tunisian crochet class and the book we used recommended going up one or two sizes from what’s suggested on the skein wrapper. Hope that helps!
